Understanding Evaluations

Overview

CompKeepr supports various types of evaluation forms created by your school program. The forms available to you depend on your program's configuration.

Evaluation Forms You Can Create

If your program has evaluation forms students can initiate, you'll see an Evaluation Forms page (or similar menu options like "Daily Evaluations" or "Other Evaluations").

These forms may be:

  • Self-evaluations — forms you complete yourself
  • Preceptor evaluations — forms you send to a preceptor for them to evaluate you
  • Instructor/School evaluations — forms sent to instructors or school accounts

Some forms may have sections you need to complete before sending.

Sent Evaluations (My Evaluations)

Once you send evaluations, they appear on your My Evaluations page with their current status. Depending on your installation, sent evaluations may also appear on the same page where you created them.

Filtering Your Evaluations

You can filter the evaluations table by:

  • Evaluation status (pending, completed)
  • Draft status
  • Confirmation status
  • Evaluation form title

Confirming Evaluations

Some evaluation forms require you to confirm viewing after they are completed. Pay attention to status labels — if confirmation is required, you'll need to view the evaluation and add any required comments to mark it complete.

Evaluations Created by Others

Some installations allow preceptors, instructors, or school accounts to create evaluation forms to evaluate you without you sending them first. Check your Notifications page regularly to see if any evaluations need your attention.

Formal Evaluations

Formal evaluations (also called formative evaluations) are summary assessments created by your faculty or clinical instructor — students do not initiate these. They typically cover a period of time (like a clinical rotation).

When you receive a formal evaluation:

  1. You'll be notified
  2. Review the evaluation and your averaged scores
  3. Add your comments
  4. The evaluation is marked complete once you respond

Formal evaluations appear on your My Formal Evaluations page (if your program uses this feature).

Concerning Evaluation Notifications

If an evaluation has scores below a certain threshold, or if the preceptor selected a checkbox to notify your instructor, a "concerning evaluation" notification is sent to the school or clinical instructor (not to you). This helps faculty follow up on evaluations that may need attention.
